Welcome to Coast to Coast to H2O dot com.

Come one, come all! (So long as you drive a mk1, of course.)
We'll be driving from the west coast to the east coast, collecting as many Mk1 drivers as we can, along the way.
If you were thinking of going to H2O International 2010,
quit thinking about it, and just do it!
Do you think Burt Reynolds would've ever gotten anywhere if he had just sat around thinking about it?
The simple answer is No. So grab your keys and grow yourself a mustache, 'cause we're going drivin'!
Our ever-growing crew of MK1-misfits will be embarking on the world's craziest adventure. If you drive a MK1 and you're looking for a good time (not the kind scribbled on a bathroom wall) come with us for the adventure of a lifetime!
You're guaranteed to have a blast. I'm pretty sure it'll bust your crank and leave skidmarks on your soul.... just sayin'...
About C2CtoH2O
Welcome to The 152's Coast To Coast H2o Road Trip site!
What, you've never heard of it?
Perhaps an explanation is in order.
Lucky McGee and Sparky started a yearly tradition in 2007, of driving across The United States,
to Ocean City, Maryland to attend the H2o International VW show. Well, if you wanna get technical,
their first cross-country trip was to Waterfest, in New Jersey, but this site pertains to the H2o International trip.

Regardless, they've made 6 trips across The United States, all in Mk1s.

In 2008, someone else finally got off their ass and committed to make the trip with them. There's been a lot of
"Ya, sure, I'll make it." "I'm comin' for sure!" "I'll be there." and a dash of
"I'll see of I can make it." with little, to no follow-through.

It was a refreshing change when RJ drove all the way down from Alberta to make the trip with us. The old saying "The more, the merrier"
certainly rings true in this situation. More cars means more fun, and everyone had a blast. We made memories and friendships to last a lifetime.

Another thing we discovered is that with more people, and more Mk1s, there's more spare parts, knowledge, and helping hands to go around.
There's also more ideas for fun stops and more cameras, to capture the fun on film...er... I mean, memory stick.

I'd like to take this moment to step out of third-person character, if you don't mind.

We love Mk1s, we love road trips. We enjoy fun, driving, shenanigans, mischief, and general tomfoolery. We're currently recruiting more
like-minded Mk1 drivers to make the cross-country trip with us, in 2010.
Our travels, and recent addition to the cross country club (that'd be RJ, if you didn't follow) have attracted all kinds of attention.
We have more people interested in traveling with us than ever before, which is why we created this site. Without an organized plan, nothing will
ever happen. Which is why we're starting plans, and this site, almost a year in advance.

As usual, we've gained a lot of attention, and have a lot of friends interested in making the trip. Myself, The lovely Lucky McGee,
and our favorite Canadian, RJ, will be making the trip, for sure.

Some new and old friends have showed interest, and some have made (not very convincing) commitments to make the trip.
If you'd be interested in a wild, cross country mk1 rally, feel free to sign up.

Oh, and If Paxton knows what's good for him, he'll quit promising and start driving..... jerk.

Accomodations & Expenses
You will be responsible for your own fuel, accommodations, drinks, smokes, foods, and repairs.Any combined accommodation arrangements should be made between respective parties. The 4 major areas of expense are fuel, hotels, food and drinks, and of course entertainment.
So you may be thinking, "I'd like to go, but I can't afford it.", and maybe you can't...
but before you write off the idea, calculate the estimated cost of the trip,
then consider the fun you would have. If you weigh them out objectively, maybe you could be inspired to give up a latte a day, (or whatever your vice happens to be), and put the money you would have spent on that one cup of coffee into your piggy bank, and by the time next September rolls around, you'll have a nice chunk of change to go road trippin' with. |
Committed Road Trippers
the following participants will be going, and are 100% committed to the journey.

We have a couple very special road-trippers who are actually flying over to the United States from Norway/Germany, in order to make the trip with us!
Sadly, they cannot bring their Mk1s, but thankfully we have plenty to go around,
and they will be driving Lucky's '92 Cabriolet, "Bandit" (click right image), in addition to being co-drivers for other drivers when needed.
We are absolutely ecstatic to have both Otti and Tuki along for The Big Adventure! | |||||||||||||||

Rules of the Road
Traveling with a group means working together so it's a wonderful experience for everybody, full of fun memories and adventures,
Sticks in the mud will be left in the dust.
You are responsible for your own accommodations, drinks, smokes, foods, and repairs. Any combined accommodation arrangements should be made between respective parties.
Personal responsibility for one's own behavior is a must. I won't be bailing you out of jail.
If Lucky gets arrested, you will work together to gather the funds to bail her out.
If you are lying to your husband or wife, and telling them you are going on a business trip instead of a
kick ass road trip with some other crazy mk1 kids, be aware that our road trip adventures will be posted
all over the internets, so you are responsible for your own disguise so you don't get caught.
